How long does demolition take?

As well as bills, people are often interested in learning how long it takes to demolish their houses. Sadly, as with several other demolition-related problems, there is no one-size-fits-all answer.

It is actually quite different from property to property, and the time needed to demolish each varies considerably.

Getting the necessary permits

Getting permits can take from 10–20 days but does not involves your active presence all the time. You just have to apply for necessary permits and wait for them to arrive.

Disconnecting utilities

Assure that all utilities, including the sewage system, the water supply, and the gas service, have been removed from the property before demolition begins. The services cannot be disconnected simply by disconnecting them. The land must be completely freed from both lines. Uninstalling the meters is necessary.

The service provider will be able to assist you with these facilities. Disconnection and removal can take up to 10 business days and do not require your constant presence.

Asbestos Removal

Toxic substances regulated by Australian legislation include asbestos. A specialist must also remove asbestos.

Certificates of disposal of asbestos are required. The operation must be communicated to neighbours. The substance must be disposed of properly, in line with the requirements set in Australian legislation, to not harm the atmosphere or the public. The process can take a week.

Salvage Items Removal

You must remove several things from the demolition site if you wish to keep them. Because bricks, mortar, floorboards, and steel need to be restored, demolition is longer when those materials are existing. Depending on how many days you wish to spend in the city.

Knocking down the property

Several factors affect the amount of time required to demolish your house. There are many factors to consider, such as the type of demolition, the size of your property, the location of the property, how long it takes to remove the rubbish, and more.
